ROC Planet Walk along East Avenue

Download the free Tour Blend iPhone or Android app (or use the free Tour Blend web app) to explore planets and solar eclipses on this one-mile walk from RMSC to the Liberty Pole. For an overview, press the left play icon.

Start at the sculpture in front of the Rochester Museum and Science Center, which represents the sun’s location. As you walk west along East Avenue to each planet’s relative location, you’ll auto-magically hear Brenda Tremblay from WXXI tell you all about it.  To hear an example from Jupiter, press the left play icon below.

To learn more, you can view photos, videos, and on-line resources for each planet. For example, there’s National Geographic videos about Jupiter and the other planets, along with links to NASA’s web pages about Jupiter and the other planets.

After downloading the Tour Blend App, be sure to allow Tour Blend to know your location and send you notifications, so that the audios will automatically play during your walk. Then select the “ROC Planet Walk” tour, select “Download Tour” to load the content, and finally select “Start Tour” when you’re ready to begin your walk in front of the museum.

The icon at the bottom center is used to select the map, which shows you where each planet is located.

This tour was created by Tour Blend, to celebrate Rochester’s total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.  It’s narrated by Brenda Tremblay, morning host at WXXI Classical, and uses images, information, and links to videos from NASA and National Geographic.
