Paddle Irondequoit Creek in Penfield, NY.
Tour Blend has added a tour of Irondequoit Creek for Kayakers and Canoeists, and we’d love to hear your feedback.
This tour is meant for people whose hands are probably busy paddling a kayak or canoe – and besides, who would want to be looking at a screen when you could be enjoying the beautiful scenery of Irondequoit Creek? So we’ve focused on the audio content that will start playing automatically as you reach certain points along the creek. Photos and text are also available as needed.
This tour includes:
- Guidance on where to paddle within the creek
- Information about the wildlife you may see around you
- Historical information about some sites you encounter along the way
You can load the free Tour Blend app on your phone any time (Get App) and activate the “Paddle Irondequoit Creek” Tour. The tour assumes you’ll launch your kayak or canoe at either LaSalle’s Landing Park on Empire Blvd or upstream at the Canoe/kayak launch in Ellison park. Both of these are included in the tour, so you can use the Tour Blend map feature to find your way there.
Start the Tour Blend app as you launch and enjoy the narration as you paddle. You’ll only need to look at your phone if you want to see the images or read the text (which is almost always the same as the audio). We recommend using a waterproof cell phone bag on a lanyard around your neck (inexpensive cell phone bags can be found on Amazon, at Walmart, or at Bay Creek Paddling Center).
If you don’t own a kayak or canoe, you can rent from the Bay Creek Paddling Center. They have a great inventory and are right on the creek making it really convenient for you to enjoy your Tour Blend tour of Irondequoit Creek.
